Get to know me better.
My personal values
Help others.
Nurtured by my parents' unwavering value of selflessness, I was raised in a garden of generosity where kindness and knowledge were shared freely. Every day, I strive to honour this virtue, challenging myself with a contemplative question: “What have you done to help someone else feel better today?”
Never stop learning.
With a childhood cradled in the arms of academic parents, I grew up in a household abuzz with books and intellectual curiosity. Now, I try to keep learning, unbounded by the constraints of career or personal interests, with child-like innocence to learn more.
Have an open mind.
My life's journey through various countries and cultures has shaped a broad perspective within me. These diverse experiences have taught me to respect and embrace differing viewpoints, fostering a readiness to listen and understand the world's multifaceted voices and truths.
Creativity’s profound impact
Music
From the ballads of MIX 106.5 to my mother's gift of a keyboard on my tenth birthday, music has been a melody weaving through my life. I love hearing instruments - from playing the violin to finding solace in the oboe solos of Thomas Newman. Music is a comforting companion. Even the vibrant energy of K-pop, particularly BTS, resonates within me, inspiring me and my ability to do something cool and great.
Storytelling
Be it playing The Man from Ironbark in third grade or being mesmerised by films and plays, storytelling has been my canvas of imagination. Tom Stoppard's intricate structures fascinate me, and even my work presentations become opportunities for me to sell some form of narrative. The joy of Broadway and the inspiration of Cannes continue to fuel my passion for storytelling, and I’ve been lucky to experience both at such a young age.
Visual Arts
My artistic journey began with the brush strokes of my grandfather, Tino Sidin, an acclaimed painter. From school projects to art gallery visits, visual arts have coloured my life with creativity. Though time may limit my own art-making, the appreciation and experience of visual expression remain an integral part of how I experience the world and its many cultures.
Dance
Inspired by films like 'Billy Elliot' and 'West Side Story', I found my rhythm in dance. My high school experiences with Rock Eisteddfod became stepping stones to my personal confidence and self-esteem. Dance has become a language I speak, whether in structured classes over at O School or in spontaneous moments of movement whenever I’m walking home.
